A Litany for the Living

"The glory of God is man fully alive." -St. Irenaeus

God didn't create us to be slaves or sleepwalkers; he created us to be free and fully alive. This is a prayer for the grace to live and love as God intends.

To live a well-ordered life so that my love may be wild; Lord, grant me the grace.

To direct my gaze to you often, and to be delighted when I realize that you’ve already been gazing upon me; Lord, grant me the grace.

To always speak with you openly, honestly, and freely; Lord, grant me the grace.

To continue praying even when I feel that I’m not praying “well enough;” Lord, grant me the grace.

To trust that you still delight in me even when I realize the weight of my selfishness and sin; Lord, grant me the grace.

To always pause and sing your praise upon waking; Lord, grant me the grace.

To always pause and reflect on how you’ve moved in my day before sleeping; Lord, grant me the grace.

To trust that your Spirit is at work within me; Lord, grant me the grace.

To boldly and confidently ask you for your graces; Lord, grant me the grace.

To entrust myself daily to the care of your Mother; Lord, grant me the grace.

To always trust that your mercy is stronger than my sin; Lord, grant me the grace.

To always generously follow the promptings of the the Spirit; Lord, grant me the grace.

To look at others intently, listen to them closely, and encounter them fully; Lord, grant me the grace.

To forgive without hesitation; Lord, grant me the grace.

To taste, touch, smell, hear, and see deeply and consciously; Lord, grant me the grace.

To welcome every season with hopeful expectation; Lord, grant me the grace.

To welcome sorrow when it comes, and to find you and your Mother there; Lord, grant me the grace.

To recognize you in everything that is good, true, and beautiful; Lord, grant me the grace.

To stop mindlessly scrolling;  Lord, grant me the grace.

To stand in awe of the created world; Lord, grant me the grace.

To be gentle with myself and with others; Lord, grant me the grace.

To know that only you can satisfy my restless heart; Lord, grant me the grace.
